Local organizations win Awards of Excellence

Several Columbus-area businesses and organizations have received Ohio Awards of Excellence.

The awards, endorsed by Gov. Bob Taft, recognize best practices and are presented by a nonprofit consortium.

The group's highest honor, the Governor's Award for Excellence, went to the University of Cincinnati's administrative and business services division.

The Central Ohio recipients were:

• Achievement of Excellence: Grant Medical Center, Columbus; HomeReach, Worthington.
• Commitment to Excellence: Lucent Technologies, Columbus; Ohio Natural Resources Department's Division of Water, Columbus.
• Pledge Toward Excellence: Leader Technologies, Westerville.
